Major project for Open Source software as a whole and for Scilab in particular, the project aims at industrializing and adapting VMKit (based on LLVM) to address the issues of scientific programming languages, particularly in terms of significant performance improvements thanks to "JIT" compilation.
Based on Scilab, the expected results of the project are very promising: industry and the user community will benefit from a high performance version of Scilab thanks to just-in-time code generation, and a code analyzer and optimizer integrated into Scilab.
The project started in October 2012 for a period of 24 months and involves the following partners: Scilab Enterprises, Universite Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), Dassault Aviation, ArcelorMittal, CNES, Silkan, OCamlPro and Inria Saclay.
